Ruth Ellen Jones

Funeral services for Ruth Ellen Jones will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday June 11, 2011 at the St. Andrew Presbyterian Church of Denton with the Reverend Steve Plunkett officating and burial will follow in the Roselawn Cemetery in Denton under the direction of the Geo. J. Carroll and Son Funeral Home The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service at the church. Mrs. Jones passed away on June 8, 2011 in Denton.

Ruth was born August 26, 1911 in Lewisville Tx, to Martha Ellen ( Wilkins) Davis and Ginnie Ora Davis. She was a member of St. Andrew Presbyterian Church since 1923. Mrs. Jones was a graduate of Denton High School and Texas Woman's University. On August 14, 1941 she married Charles C. Jones who preceded her in death on October 14, 1963. Ruth taught seventh grade science for more than 30 years at Calhoun Junior High in Denton. On October 3, 1988 she married Ernest L. Parnell who preceded her in death as well. She was also preceded in death by her parents and brother Charles W. Davis.

Ruth is survived by her sister Mary Elizabeth Brown of Gainesville, nieces and nephews Robert and Diane Jernigan of Chandler, Az, Charles and Cindy Brown of Gainesville, Tx, Bill and Dee Carrico of Denton Tx, Betty Hayes of Amarillo Tx and Elizabeth Shires of Lynchberg, Va.;great nieces and nephews Michael and Robyn Dyer, Robert Jernigan Jr, and Charles and Angela Jernigan of Chandler Az, Davis and Tonnie Brown of Gainesville and Scott and Melanie Hanson of Keller Tx. Great great nieces Ashley and Courtney Dyer, Madison Jernigan, Zoe Brown and Madeline Hanson and great great nephews Brendan Dyer, Charles Jernigan and Mason Brown, as well as numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
