Pat Mode

Memorial services for Patsy Lestene Mode, 77, of Era, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 8, 2016 at First Baptist Church of Era with Pastor Jason Huntington officiating under the direction of Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.

Mrs. Mode passed away July 4, 2016 in Gainesville.

Pat was born November 22, 1938 in Gainesville to Lester “Doc” and Maddie (Shipley) Speer. She met Don Mode at the Gainesville Skating Rink in 1953 and the two were married in March of the next year. A devoted military wife, Mrs. Mode lived in various parts of the country during Don’s service until the family eventually settled in the Era community, where they have resided for 42 years. She enjoyed maintaining her landscaping, even mowing and edging since Don couldn’t do it to her satisfaction. Mrs. Mode was a caring wife, mother, and grandmother who loved her family deeply.

Survivors include: husband of 62 years, Don Mode of Era; daughter Deborah Vega and husband Larry of Corpus Christi; son Tony Mode and wife Lalie of Atlanta, GA; sister Neta Suggs and husband Alvin of Arlington; sister Janice Mullins and husband Wayne of Marietta, OK; brother Leslie Speer of Marietta, OK; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Mode is also survived by family members Dennis Fuhrmann and wife Violet of Sanger.

Preceding Mrs. Mode in passing were: her parents; son Ronald Dale Mode; daughter Janet Marie Mode; and granddaughter Natalie Lynette Mode.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Era Youth Center.
