Howard Burchfield

Funeral services for Howard Laval Burchfield, 66, of Gainesville are set for 2 pm Friday at Woodbine Baptist Church with Pastors David Whittington and Gayle Baucum officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery.



Mr. Burchfield died Tuesday, Dec. 9, at North Texas Medical Center after a long and courageous battle with lung cancer.



Mr. Burchfield was born Jan. 8, 1942 in Sherman, TX, to Carl and Leta Pearl Burchfield. He married his high school sweetheart Linda Loving on June 28, 1963. He retired in 2005 as chief of security from Denton State School. He was preceded in death by his parents.



Survivors include his wife Linda Burchfield; children Kim Sullivan and her husband Wiley; Pam Eldredge and her husband Joel; Kristi Payne and her husband Daren; and Kevin Burchfield and his wife Josie; brother Dale Burchfield; and grandchildren Wiley Hampton and Leta Beth Sullivan; Kaylee and Carlee Eldredge; and David and Jenni Payne, and Colton, Jalyn, and Auston Burchfield.



Pallbearers are Ronnie Loving, Martin Spicer, Robert Teague, Chris Aitchison, Wiley Hampton Sullivan and Freddie Eustace.



Visitation is set for George J. Carroll Funeral Home from 6 to 7 pm on Thursday. Memorial contributions may be made to Home Hospice of Cooke County, 1001 E. Broadway, Gainesville, TX, 76240.
