Brittany "Brita" Nicole Adkins Hamilton

Christian funeral services for Brittany “Brita” Nicole Adkins Hamilton, age 36 of Gainesville, are scheduled for Friday, January 28, 2022, at 2:00 PM at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home with Jack Jones officiating. The visitation will be held from 5:30-7:30 PM on Thursday, January 27, 2022 at the funeral home.  Pallbearers are members of the Gainesville Police Department: Armando Landin, Christopher Garner, Ronald Alford, Tom Reynolds, Michael Young and Klayton Cantrell.

Brita will be laid to rest with the rest of her family at Mount Zion Cemetery in Collinsville, TX following the funeral service.

Brittany Nicole Adkins Hamilton passed away into the arms of Jesus on Sunday, January 23, 2022. Brita was born on August 24, 1985 in Denton, Texas, to Terry and Peggy Adkins.  Brita graduated from Gainesville High School in 2003.  While in high school Brita worked at Bass shoes, while being very involved in the Electric Red Dance team and was captain of the dance team her senior year!  After graduating high school, she began working at North Texas Medical Center which led to her career in the medical field.  In June 2006 Brita began working for TeamHealth and continued to work there until she passed.  Brita’s job was so important to her and she poured her heart and soul into her work.  While working full time, Brita also went to college at the University of North Texas, where she then graduated in 2009.  Brita loved using her talents and wisdom wherever she could. She loved being involved in the community and if you knew Brita, you know when she was committed to something, she gave it her all to the best of her ability.  Brita was a member of Temple Baptist Church. She was very active in Relay for Life, where she held numerous positions and was an avid supporter of Righteous Ways. Brita always had a passion for dance and continued this by teaching kids at Dance Fever for 13 years.  She taught tap, ballet, jazz, hip hop and tumbling and the kids loved to learn from her and they all held such a special place in her heart!  Brita met the love of her life Thomas in August 2016 and the two of them got married May 24, 2018 in Cuchara, Colorado.

Brita is survived by her husband Thomas Hamilton and daughter Audrey.  She is also survived by sister Krissa Klement and husband Tim, sister Kristin Lee and husband Michael, brother-in-law Nate Cook, sister-in-law Tiffany Lester and husband John, sister-in-law Patricia Hamilton, mother-in-law Penny, and husband Jim Southerland, father-in-law Allen Hamilton, Aunt Donna Partain and husband Larry, Aunt Wanda Whitley and husband Don, Aunt Carolyn Adkins and Dane and Marie Coker.  Nieces and Nephews Brooke Jones, Chase Klement, Lexie Coker, Trever Coker, Jacob Campbell, Nathan "Trey" Cook, Joshua Cook, Aiden Lester, Jesse and Jamie Jelinek, numerous cousins and Fur babies- Moses, Lincoln, Hank, Willie, Lou Lou.

Brita was preceded in death by sister, Traci Cook, Parents Peggy and Terry Adkins, Uncle Ronnie Adkins and wife Peggy, Grandparents Tom and. Jean Kammerdiener, Woodrow "Woody" and Bernice Adkins and her beloved fur baby Dolce.

Brita was an active participant and supporter of several organizations including the American Cancer Society, Relay for Life, Righteous Ways, United Way, National MS Society and Muttley Farms located in Valley View, TX.  If you would like to honor her and her love for animals and medical research, please consider donating to any of these organizations instead of flowers or consider adopting some fur babies from a shelter.
