Funeral services for Harold Bailey “Bud” Peters Jr., 77, of Era, are scheduled for 10:00 AM on Thursday, April 4, 2019 at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home with Daniel Jones and Jerry Neighbors officiating. Interment will follow at Era Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:00 PM on Wednesday, April 3 at the funeral home.
Mr. Peters passed away April 1, 2019 in Denton following a lengthy battle with cancer.
Bud was born September 11, 1941 in St. Albans, WV to Harold Bailey and Dorothy (Ennis) Peters. He was a design draftsman for Dow Chemical, retiring in 1997. Bud married the love of his life, Lynn Scott, in Era on May 12, 1997. He worked part-time at North Central Texas College for twelve years and served as director for the Era Water Supply Corporation. Bud loved his dogs, learned to love goats, enjoyed fishing, passing time with his poker buddies, and treasured the moments he and Lynn were able to spend in Alaska. Bud used his woodworking skills in building elaborate birdhouses, in most part to donate to charitable groups. Bud will be remembered as a compassionate man with a caring and giving spirit.
Survivors include: wife Lynn Peters of Era; daughter Laura Peters of Charleston, WV; son Matt Peters of Charleston; granddaughter Hope Peters of Charleston; sister AnnaLaura Fields and husband Bill of Leesburg, FL; brother-in-law Dave Nommensen and wife Roz of Houston; brother-in-law Rick Nommensen and wife Cindy of Houston; sister-in-law Patti Nommensen of Houston; and numerous beloved nieces and nephews.
Mr. Peters was preceded in death by his parents; and brother Andy Peters.
Serving as pallbearers are: Robert Ferrell, Jerry Lewis, Jim Lundberg, Jack Martin, Robby Baugh, Sam Smith, Dave Nommensen, and Eric Ramsey.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Bud & Lynn Peters Scholarship with the NCTC Foundation.
