Frank A. Haverkamp, Jr. of Lindsay passed away April 17, 2019 at the age of 86. He was born to Frank H. Haverkamp, Sr. and Catherine “Katie” Schmidlkofer Haverkamp on June 18, 1932. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Angela Rose Hermes Haverkamp and their children, Donna Hertel and husband Craig of Gainesville and daughter Olivia; Judge Janelle M. Haverkamp of Lindsay and daughter Katherine; Tommy Haverkamp and wife Mayme of Lindsay and children, Emily, Ryan, John and Abby; Diane Zimmerer of Lindsay and daughters Erin, Hannah and Maddy; Carol Klement and husband Mark of Muenster and children Taylor, Shelby, Bailey and Matthew; Greg Haverkamp and wife Amy of Lindsay and children Haley Vesperman and husband Cameron, Amelia and Ben. He is survived by his siblings Ray, Richard, Clara Mae, Alma and Betty. Frank is also survived by lifelong friends Rudy and AnnaBelle Dieter and family.
In 1964, Frank was a partner and manager in the development of Parkview Enterprises in Lindsay which included the Bottle Shop, Superette and the Dutchman. After selling these businesses in 1985, Frank obtained his real estate and broker’s license. Frank was a lifelong farmer and rancher and an avid deer hunter. He served in the US Army as a Military Policeman. He served the City of Lindsay as Mayor and as a councilman for 16 years. Frank served as a Director on the Cooke County Fair Association Board for 25 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Peters Catholic Church.
Frank is preceded in death by son John Haverkamp and grandson Samuel Zimmerer. Serving as pallbearers are Ryan, John and Ben Haverkamp, Matthew Klement, Steve Haverkamp, Doug Hermes and Pat and John Dieter. Honorary pallbearers are the “Lely Ranch” deer hunters.
Rosary and visitation will be at 6:00 p.m. Monday, April 22, 2019, at George J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home in Gainesville. Mass of Christian burial will be 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2019, at St. Peters Catholic Church in Lindsay. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Cooke County Fair Association or Home Hospice.
