Funeral services for Paul Colestino Martinez, 88, of Gainesville, will be held at 1:00 PM Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home Chapel with David Gray and Bro. Carl Lane officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery. A visitation is set for Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
Mr. Martinez passed away Thursday, February 8, 2018 in Gainesville. He was born April 8, 1929 in Safford, AZ to Prudencio and Lorraine Sapp Martinez.
Paul proudly served in the United States Navy during the Korean War. He was a talented handyman that could repair most anything. He was an amazing husband and doting father that loved his family deeply, spending as much time as possible with his kids and grandkids. Being follower of Christ, he has been an upstanding member of Netherwood Church of Christ in Albuquerque, NM for many years and, more recently of Hillcrest Church of Christ.
Mr. Martinez is survived by his wife Betty Monroe-Martinez of Gainesville; daughter and son-in-law Cecila and Jorge Torres of Houston; daughter Luz Markley of Arizona; son and daughter-in-law Diego and Iris Martinez of Las Vegas, NV; daughter and son-in-law Pam and Derek Van Wart of Albuquerque, NM; daughter Linda Dugan of Michigan; son Paul Martinez of California; stepdaughter Kathi Kirby Husereau and her husband Stephen of Gainesville; stepson Nick Monroe and his wife Teri Rabby-Monroe of Denton; stepdaughter Cindy Monroe of Gainesville; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister and brother-in-law Helen and Benny Martinez of Albuquerque, NM; sister JoAnn Manley of Albuquerque, NM; sister-in-law Maxine Martinez of Wisconsin.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents; his brother Richard Martinez; brother Nick Martinez; brother Gene Martinez.
