Peggy Charlene Adkins

January 28, 1951 — March 22, 2021

Peggy Charlene Adkins left this earthly world on Monday, March 22, 2021 peacefully in her sleep and started her heavenly journey with her beloved Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Peggy’s life will be celebrated with a service on Friday, March 26, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at the Temple Baptist Church with Dr. Eddie Chennault officiating, assisted by Pastor Brady Martin of Temple Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday March 24, 2021 at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home. Interment will be at Mount Zion Cemetery, in Collinsville, Texas.

Peggy was born in Gainesville, Texas on January 28, 1951, to Willie Jean Morrison and Charles Brown Kelly. She graduated from Callisburg High School in 1969.  On February 17, 1979, she married the love of her life, Terry Don Adkins.  Peggy, Terry, and family spent countless summers at Lake Texoma fishing, camping, and making many fun-filled memories that will forever be cherished.  She loved putting puzzles together, shopping, and spoiling her grandchildren.

Most of Peggy’s professional career was primarily focused in human resources. She considered her co-workers as family and made many lifetime friends through her employment with Valenite, State Farm, and Peak Oilfield Services. Peggy retired from Peak to spend quality time with Terry. After his passing in 2017, she spent countless hours with her granddaughter and caretaker Lexie and her beloved fur baby, Abby.

Peggy is survived by her four daughters; Krissa Klement and husband Tim of Gainesville, Traci Cook and husband Nate of Virginia, Kristin Lee husband Michael of Gainesville, and Brita Hamilton and husband Thomas of Gainesville. Also included is her forever son-in-law, Dane Coker and wife Marie of Gainesville. Her grandchildren she loved and was so enormously proud of is Lexie Coker and fiancé Mason Morrow, Trever Coker, Jacob Campbell, Nathan (Trey) & Joshua Cook, Audrey Hamilton, Chase Klement, Brooke and Clayton Barnes and great-granddaughter Ruth Barnes. She is also survived by her sister Wanda Whitley and husband Don of Denison, her sister-in-law Donna Partain and husband Larry of Gainesville, and sister-in-law Carolyn Adkins. She has numerous nieces, a nephew, cousins, and many beloved relatives and friends.

Pallbearers are Dane Coker, Trever Coker, Jacob Campbell, Thomas Hamilton, Craig Barnes, and Greg Hess.

Memorial contributions may be made to Noah's Ark in Gainesville, Texas.
