Philip Lee Marsh

Philip Lee Marsh, 61, of Sivells Bend, passed away March 6, 2023 in Sivells Bend.

Philip was born July 12, 1961 in Gladewater, TX, and graduated from Big Sandy High School, where he excelled in multiple sports and agriculture education.  He married Sheila Owens on July 7, 1985 in Big Sandy.  Philip was a prominent cattleman in North Central Texas and an accomplished cattle breeder.  He was a representative for S.T. Genetics, a founding member of the Cooke County Beef Cattle Improvement Association, and served on the Sivells Bend School Board for 29 years.  When he could find a little free time, he enjoyed hunting, cooking, smoking BBQ, and spending time around his family.

Survivors include: wife Sheila Marsh of Sivells Bend; daughter Brandy Marsh of Sivells Bend and fiancé Colby Westfall; daughter Corrie Marsh of Muenster; daughter Kristy Marsh of Gainesville; grandchildren Braysn Lee and Gentry; father Charles W. Marsh of Big Sandy; brother Wayne Marsh and wife Brenda of Hugo, OK; sister Linda Sigman of Big Sandy; and sister Pam McGhee and husband David of Owentown.

Mr. Marsh is also survived by: father-in-law Ralph R. Owens of White Oak; stepmother-in-law Becky Waller of Hawkins; sister-in-law Tina Beall of Diana; brother-in-law Bubba Owens and wife Lisa of Hawkins; sister-in-law Noni Burke and husband Scott of Peyton, CO; sister-in-law Donna Meyers and husband Brent of Shady Grove; brother-in-law David Owens and wife Misty of Shady Grove; brother-in-law Robert Owens of Tyler; brother-in-law Jeremy Owens and wife Cami of Hawkins; and sister-in-law Amber Owens of Kilgore.

Mr. Marsh was preceded in death by: mother Mildred Francis Collier; brother David Marsh; brother-in-law Marty Sigman; and mother-in-law Espy Owens.

The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., with a eulogy at 6:00 p.m., on Friday, March 10, 2023, at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home, Gainesville.  Due to weather conditions, a graveside-style service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 11 on the grounds of Sivells Bend United Methodist Church.  Mr. Marsh will be laid to rest at Bear Head Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers are: Wayne Marsh, Kurt Marsh, Josh Freeman, Jake Freeman, Travis Rosson, Colby Westfall, Juan Lopez, and Chad Martin.
