Ronny Blount

James Ronald (Ronny) Blount, 68, of Gainesville, went peacefully to be with the Lord on March 6, 2022, surrounded by his loving wife and family at his home, after a hard-fought battle with cancer.

Ronny was born to Jim and Margaret Blount of Hood, TX on October 1, 1953.  He loved his family, especially his grandchildren, whom affectionately called him GPa.  Ronny was a free spirit and left an indelible mark on everyone he met.  You will be forever missed, Dad.

Survivors include: loving wife of 22 years, Susan Gillis; sons: Jacob Blount and wife, Jessica of Lake Kiowa, Stephen Gillis, and Ryan Gillis of Gainesville; grandchildren: Kaden Gillis, Trenton Blount, Cori Etter, Baker Blount, and Palmer Blount; sisters: Marsha Rasure and family of Rockport, and Janice Johnson and family of Huntsville.

Mr. Blount was preceded in death by: his parents; and younger brother, Deryl Blount.

A memorial service is scheduled for 11:15 A.M. on Saturday, March 12, 2022, at Whaley United Methodist Church with Rev. Hollis Parsons officiating.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:30 P.M. on Friday, March 11, at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.

Serving as honorary pallbearers are: Grady Koonce, Wayne Bingaman, Mike Jones, Trenton Blount, Cori Etter, Kaden Gillis, Victor Ramirez, Tony Saavedra, and Scott “Limey” Wilkins.
