Tony Odell Weir, Sr., 60, of Gainesville, TX went to his heavenly home, with his wife by his side, on Wednesday, October 13, 2021 after a long-term complex battle. He fought so hard until his last breath. Tony was a shining example of faith, courage and strength to every life he touched. Tony was a man of many talents. His favorite jobs were truck driving, concrete work, oilfield work, serving as a police officer and last but not least, a musician. Tony started playing a guitar and bass at five years old with family. He played by ear and could play any musical instrument he touched. He was a member of many bands throughout the years, all of whom became a part of his family.
Tony proudly joined the Texas Army National Guard. He graduated from his basic and AIT at Ft. Knox, KY on August 23, 1984. He was a proud tanker.
Tony was raised to the degree of Master Mason in the Hiram Lodge #433.
After graduating Texoma Regional Police Academy, he served as a deputy constable for Cooke County Precinct 4 from 2001-2007. He then served as a deputy with Valley View Police Department from 2008-2010 until his unexpected and debilitating valiant battle began.
Tony was a member of Woodbine Baptist Church.
Tony enjoyed spending time with all his family and friends, and especially lit up when he saw or talked about any of his grandchildren. Tony loved his fur babies Lucky, Oakley and Sissy and took comfort in their daily companionship.
Tony was born on September 6, 1961 in Gainesville, TX to Patsy Charleen Lambert.
Tony married his wife, Regina Ann Weir, on September 17, 1999. They shared a unique and unconditional love for each other and their family and friends.
Tony is survived by his wife, Regina Ann Weir of Gainesville, TX; his son and daughter-in-love, Tony O. (TJ) and Lori Weir, Jr. of Aubrey, TX; his son, Artie Wayland Weir of Hugo, OK; his daughter, Angelica (Angel) Shontel Wolf of Gainesville, TX; his daughter and son-in-love, Alice Marie and Joe Stanley of Sherman, TX; his son, Matthew Bryan Fowler of Gainesville, TX; his daughter and son-in-love, Katheren (Katie) and Hunter Parker of Melissa, TX; his son and daughter-in-love, Kenny and Jaclyn Weir of Howe, TX; his daughter and son-in-love, Elizabeth LeeAnn and Charlie Whittington of Gainesville, TX; his daughter and son-in-love, Keshia Nicole and Nathan Heltsley of Gainesville, TX; his mother, Patsy Charleen Lambert Rode of Gainesville, TX; his maternal grandmother, Alice Earleen Lambert of Gainesville, TX; his brother, Stoney Weir of Coyle, OK; his brother, David Wier of Gainesville, TX; his sister, Beverly Trammell of Gainesville, TX; and his brother, James Weir of Guthrie, OK. Survivors also include 30 amazing grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Tony also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends, whom he loved dearly.
Tony was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Sharkey Lambert; his paternal grandmother, Iva Mae Hudson Weir; and his paternal grandfather, William Hamilton Weir.
Tony’s visitation will be Monday, October 18, 2021, from 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home in Gainesville, TX. He will be honored with a service on Tuesday, October 19, 2021, 10:00 A.M., at Woodbine Baptist Church with burial following at Nelson Grove Cemetery in Gainesville, TX.
Tony's pallbearers will be Brandon Mitchell, Ronnie Skaggs, Gordon Fowler, Phil Graves, Larry Morrison, Marc Calabrese, Pat Patrick, Nick Gunnells and David Pouncil.
